봄 여름 가을 겨울 그리고 봄 (김기덕 2003)

This movie has lingered on my watch list like a sleeping tiger. I will finally be behooved to watch the movie for my Chinese Philosophy class. My professor just told me she wrote her dissertation on Spring Summer Fall Winter… and Spring and its themes of confuscian concepts of detachment and asceticism.

Director Kim Ki-duk is not always known for peaceful filmmaking. I have only watched one of his films: Pieta (2012). This film, like his very famous 3 Iron (2004) deals with themes of sexual transgression and extremity. I want to investigate how such a director as Kim can maneuver between such extremes of violence & subversion all the way down to the most peacefully simmering protest against chaos.
